Each year, May 15th is celebrated nationally as “Peace Officers Memorial Day.” In the week proceeding, it’s tradition for law enforcement agencies in DeKalb County to celebrate and honor the memory of our fallen officers.
This year, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, DeKalb’s annual ceremony was not held in person. In this video, DeKalb County Police Chief Mirtha Ramos shares an introductory message before the roll call of fallen officers and other excerpts from last year’s ceremony, which were recorded on site on May 8, 2019 in front of the DeKalb County Courthouse in Decatur.
It is my honor to share this with you. Click below to view this year’s virtual memorial, prepared by DCTV.
