September is National Senior Month and has been celebrated since 1979 by the National Council on Aging. The 2020 theme is: Senior Centers: Delivering Vital Connections.
DeKalb County currently has 4 neighborhood senior centers located throughout the county and two multipurpose active senior centers. They are managed by DeKalb County’s Office of Aging within the Human Services Department.
Senior centers are a one stop shop for their members. Here, they are able to socialize, receive essential services and remain an active part of their communities.
DeKalb’s senior centers offer many vital resources for our elderly population including; Meals on Wheels, home assistance programs, exercise, academic programs, health and wellness programs, senior advocacy programs and so much more.
DeKalb County celebrates National Senior Center Month and thanks the Office of Aging for their dedication and for continuing to provide these vital connections to our seniors.
