With a background in city planning, public policy research, economic development, energy conservation and private sector development, Davis brings a breadth of experience to assist Commissioner Gannon on issues coming before the Board of Commissioners. Davis was on the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Regional Commission from 2002-2011.He was Chairman of the Environment and Land Use Committee and at various times served on the Executive, Legislative, and Transportation and Air Quality committees. He is a founding member of the Alliance to Improve Emory Village and served as Chairman of the Board from its inception in 2000 through 2007.  He is also a past Board member of the Civic League of Atlanta.  From 1994 to 2002 he served on the DeKalb Planning Commission, and he is a graduate of the Regional Leadership Institute.

Davis graduated with a degree in political Science from American University and attended the Graduate City Planning program at Georgia Tech. Davis is proudly married to Susan Fox for more than 30 years and they are parents of two grown sons who advanced through DeKalb County public schools before graduating from college.
